Why Join?It makes sense to belong to an
association.......
Today's
business and political climates are shaped by people working together. In a
complex society individual problems often remain unsolved, and individual goals
often remain out of reach. But you can substantially increase your chances of
success by joining with others who share your concerns, and whose future is
subject to the same positive and negative factors that affect your own future. What does membership in ITDA mean to you?
You
determine the services and benefits needed. If you have a problem or think of a
service which would be of benefit to you and other tire dealers, just contact a
board member or call the ITDA office. The best ideas for new programs and
services come from members. The Iowa Tire Dealers Association is a non-profit
organization dedicated to assisting members shape a successful business future. The
chief value of an association is providing a framework for people in the same
business to get together. The network provides a means for tire dealers to learn
from experts in the areas of management and technology. Some of these experts
are outside consultants, but much of the expert advice may come from fellow tire
dealers who have learned from experience. Studies
show that business owners who isolate themselves, who don=t
join associations, are more likely to fail than those who belong to
associations. All
segments of tire industry are represented in ITDA: manufacturers, dealers, and
suppliers. Each member firm has an equal voice in setting policy, creating
programs, identifying problems, and working toward the solution of the problems. ITDA
is affiliated with the Tire Association of North America, TANA. This alliance
becomes your link to others in the industry on a national scale.
Benjamin
Franklin, an early believer in associations!
Patriot,
printer, idea man and inventor, Benjamin Franklin championed collective
solutions to local and national problems. While still a young man, he formed a
tradesmen's
group called the Junto, which met weekly for talk and friendship, and was its
guiding spirit for thirty years. In 1743 he organized the American Philosophical
Society, which still exists. Franklin was a delegate to both the Continental
Convention and the Continental Congress where, after signing the Declaration of
Independence, he quipped, "We
must all hang together or, assuredly, we shall hang separately."
